Fight Like A Fox - Logan's Treatment & Transplant

Solana beach, CA

Story

After battling a leukemia for the last 15 years w various treatments, surgeries to remove organs and getting to a manageable level the last 5 years, I received a devastating NEW diagnosis in May: Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia, its a Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma that’s in a leukemic form. A rare and aggressive form of cancer. The cancer is so rare that even the best hematology oncology doctors in the world had never seen it, labeling me as a one of one case. After having it reviewed by the best facilities in the country I settled on City Of Hope in Los Angeles to begin aggressive treatment. I was only the third person to receive this combined mix of chemo and immuno therapy. I completed six months of treatment in Los Angeles. Getting me to a point where enough cancer had been killed and a bone marrow donor had been found. The easy part is over and I move now to the most challenging & dangerous part, a stem cell transplant at UCSD in San Diego. I begin powerful high dose chemotherapy for 5 days 12/6-10. They harvest the donor who is located in Poland on the 10th and 11th. I Check into the hospital on the 11th & they transplant me on the 12th. I will spend a month in the hospital to recover enough to go home. And I require 100 days post transplant of 24/7 caretaking. This page will be critical in coordinating the in-hospital and post-recovery support as well as giving necessary updates to people that would like them.
