Story
After 2 months of testing, doctor appointments and 1 failed mass removal,on May 5th I was told that I have low grade serous carcinoma (stage 3c diagnosis came a week later) ovarian cancer. I was , at the time, on a 2 week leave from work, I have been off of work since May 2nd. , because I was to have the mass in my abdomen removed. That did not go as planned, so they sent off the samples and scrapings to pathology. And we waited....... This has been a roller coaster ride for me and my family. A week later I was in with a gynecology oncology group at UT. And a week after that I was in surgery. On May 21st they spent 6.5-7 hours with me in surgery. Dr. Reidinger managed to remove 95%+ of the cancer in my abdomen. This is after extensive resections of my colon and bowel as well as bladder reconstruction. I came home on May 27th and have been recovering. For those that do not know, about 15 years ago I had a complete hysterectomy. Just because you no longer have ovaries does NOT mean you can no longer get the cancer. Please continue to get checked as recommended. I kept putting it off and putting it off, because why should I worry? I don't have those parts any longer. Pay attention to your body. Because of hard places to reach and possible still hidden that we can't see, I will have to have chemo. My family and I are dealing as best we can. I have a good, support system around me to help me through. And as much as I ever hate to ask for help, we may need it, if I am out of work for long. Even a small bit helps. We will have to travel from home to an hour and a half away for treatment. I am extremely lucky to have family that lives in the city and we can stay with, if need be. No one is obligated. No one is expected. It was an option that I chose to put out here. Please feel no obligation. I want to thank everyone that has prayed, gave good thoughts, vibes , energy and anything else out into the universe for me. And even more if you continue to do so while we are on this journey. Much Love to everyone! 💞
Special Notes
With the extensive reconstruction done to my internal organs, current dietary restrictions are many. But if you would like to do food, my husband and kids would always be appreciative. With working full time (all 3) and taking shifts with me, they could always use it.
