Well it Finally happened!! Jon recieved the call for his new liver at 1:30 am on Wednesday 7/8, and by 9:00am on July 9th 2026th Jon was going in for his liver transplant surgery! The surgery went smoothly and without complications. The doctors said Jon recieved a healthy liver, and his body went through the surgery like a champ! We are forever grateful to our donor and his family for giving Jon this selfless gift. We will be forever thankful. Now Jon can start LIVERing his best life!! I've been here in the hospital with Jon for the past 2 weeks and have watched all of the amazing milestones he has gone through. As well as some pretty scary hiccups (and there were a LOT of hiccups, both figuratively, and literally!) Finally Jon is getting cleared to continue his healing jounery from the comfort of his home!! It has been a wild 2 weeks, with a lot of ups and downs, and it will continue to be a roller coaster for a while. We have a long road ahead of us. That is why I am reaching out to our circle of family, friends, and loved ones for some help on our healing journey! Love, Brooke
While we want to visit with all of our loved ones, right now Jon is HIGHLY immunocompromised so we have to be pretty strict about our visiting policy. If you want to visit please follow these guidelines: - If you are sick, keep those germs to yourself! - If anyone in your house is sick (even if you feel fine) steer clear of us. - If you aren't sure if you have allergies, or a cold, its better to be safe than sorry, and keep your distance. - We love kids, but right now, we need to avoid younger children (kindergarten and below). While we love little ones, we dont love their germs! - If you've been around huge groups where you are uncertain about everyone's health, especially around cold and flu season it is usually a good idea to avoid us... (fortunately we have a few months before back to school/cold/flu season, so that is a lower risk right now) There are other little things here and there, but those are the main ones. A great rule of thumb is... WHEN IN DOUBT, REACH OUT!! Please dont hesitate to ask me any questions you have about visits. Those of you that know me (Brooke) already have a pretty great understanding of this protocol. Thanks for your understanding. There will be so much time for visiting in the future, and we eagerly look forward to those days. Just not at the risk to Jon's health.
