Why I’m Asking for Help I never imagined I would be in a place where I would have to ask other people for financial help. Asking for help has always been incredibly difficult for me because I’ve spent so much of my life feeling like I needed to figure everything out on my own. Right now, I’m a college student living on my own, away from an abusive and unhealthy home environment. Leaving home was something I needed to do for my own well-being, but starting over on my own has come with challenges I never expected. I’m trying to build a life for myself while also going to school, working toward becoming financially independent, and learning how to take care of myself without the support of a stable family behind me. On top of everything else, I have been struggling with a rare gastrointestinal disorder that has made something as simple as eating incredibly difficult. My body often cannot keep food down, and there are times when almost anything I eat comes back up. It has affected my everyday life in ways that are difficult to explain unless you’ve experienced it yourself. I’m dealing with appointments, medical expenses, testing, and trying to find answers while still attempting to keep up with college and everything else life requires. I’m also trying desperately to find a job so that I can become more stable financially. One of my biggest goals right now is getting a reliable car so I can get to work, school, medical appointments, and eventually have the ability to support myself without having to constantly worry about how I’m going to get from one place to another. I also need to be able to contribute toward my medical expenses and basic living costs. But despite everything, I’m still trying. I’m currently studying Christian Ministry with a minor in Behavioral Health because my biggest hope is that one day I can use everything I’ve been through to help people who feel lost, forgotten, broken, or hopeless. I know what it feels like to wonder if anyone sees you. I know what it feels like to be hurting and not know where to turn. And I want to become the kind of person who can sit beside someone in those moments and remind them that their story isn’t over. My circumstances right now are difficult, but I don’t want them to define my future. I’m asking for financial help because I’m trying to create a future where I can stand on my own, continue my education, receive the medical care I need, find reliable transportation, and ultimately help others who are walking through their own difficult seasons. If you’re able to give, any amount truly means more to me than I can put into words. Even a small contribution can help me pay for transportation, medical expenses, food, school-related needs, or move one step closer to getting a reliable car. And if you aren’t able to give, I completely understand. Sharing this, praying for me, encouraging me, or simply reminding me that I’m not alone means so much. I’m not asking because I want someone else to build my life for me. I’m asking for a little help while I work incredibly hard to build it myself. I’m trying to turn a painful chapter of my life into something meaningful. I’m trying to keep going, keep studying, keep working, keep believing, and someday use what I’ve survived to help someone else realize that they can keep going too. Thank you for taking the time to hear my story. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping me take even one more step forward.
