Josh’s father Dean, stepmother Sandy and brother Andrew, were involved in a devastating home explosion near Chicago on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Sadly, Sandy lost her life and Dean and Andrew have been recovering in a burn unit in Chicago. Dean and Andrew lost everything in the explosion and will be staying with Josh and Lindsay while they heal and receive daily support with their injuries and recovery. Dean will most likely need to travel to the Cities for follow-up appointments and Andrew will need to continue care at Loyola University Medical Center in the Chicago area. This page has been created to help support the Horvatin family in various ways, including meals, gas cards for travel, gift cards for dinners, and other basic supplies they may need during this time.
Some meal train times have been set up on the calendar below. The Horvatins are on the go quite a bit this time of year with softball, so meals will help during some of the busier times. Please call or text before dropping anything off so they can coordinate and make sure the dogs are inside the house. We are happy to meet you in the driveway or even in town.
