On Christmas morning, my sister and her family experienced an unexpected loss when a fire in their neighboring duplex spread to their home, resulting in significant smoke and fire damage. While we are deeply grateful that everyone is safe, including their dogs, the damage to their home and belongings has been extensive. They are currently staying in a loaner house on base while they work through the next steps. As the situation has become clearer, the damage has proven to be more extensive than first expected, and many essential household items and personal belongings are no longer usable—especially given that some family members have severe asthma. We know many family members and friends have reached out asking how they can help.
