Supporting Monica's Fight with Breast Cancer 🩷

Seymour, CT

Story

7/7/25 at the age of 40 and healthy, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 🎀. I never imagined it'd be me but cancer doesn't discriminate. In such a short but what felt like forever, the past 2 weeks I have done all of the necessary scans, tests, biopsies, met with oncology and my breast surgeon. On Monday, 7/21 I will have my port placed which will allow for easy access to receive chemotherapy. On Friday, 7/25 I will receive my 1st chemo treatment of many. My treatment plan is expected to be over a year long journey of treatment every other week for 2 months then every week for 12 weeks. After chemotherapy, I will have surgery to remove the tumors in my breast and have reconstructive surgery of my breasts. Once I heal from surgery, radiation will begin. This is one of the scariest times of my life and I've been on an emotional roller coaster, afraid, lost, hurt and confused. Why me? I've overcome the negative thoughts and am ready to take on this fight until I WIN...and I WILL!!!!! Chemotherapy will be the hardest part of my journey as it is known to really wipe you out, There will be days where I feel great and days I will just need to rest. This will be temporary but something I have to face. Fortunately, I have a great support system from family, my best friend Mara, friends and my coworkers. Any and all support is very much appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
