In a single instant, Terry's world came to a sudden, tragic halt when the motorhome he lives in caught fire while he was sleeping. On September 24th. around 5:30am. Terry woke up to flames and smoke and was unable to escape the fire. A neighbor heard his cries for help and was able to pull him through a window of the motorhome that was now completely engulfed in flames. Terry was left with nothing; not even the clothes on his back made it through the fire. He lost his home, his belongings, and every cherished piece of his life. Right now, Terry is fighting the hardest battle of his life in critical condition at the UC Davis Burn Center. He suffered severe second-and third-degree burns over 45% of his body. Every day is an excruciating fight for survival, filled with intensive treatments, complex surgeries, and endless pain. While doctors and medical staff work tirelessly to help him heal, the reality awaiting him when he recovers is overwhelming: he has no home to return to, no clothes to wear, and no basic essentials to start over. Terry has always been the kind of person who shows up for others, but today he urgently needs our community to show up for him. The journey ahead involves months of critical medical care, painful rehabilitation, physical therapy, and the daunting task of completely rebuilding a life from absolute zero.
