Story

Roger had both knees replaced 4 years ago. Overall he has had no issues since then until Monday, April 24th. He woke up and had extreme pain in his knee and was unable to walk. We got him into the orthopedic doctor that day. They did x-rays and lab work. We left with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication. Tuesday, they called and said to bring him in Wednesday morning so they could pull fluid off of his knee. During this time at home, his symptoms were only getting worse. On Wednesday, the doctor did not like the look of the fluid so he sent us straight to the hospital. At the hospital, we were told that his kidneys were not working properly and his blood pressure was consistently 80/40. All while running a fever. Thursday, they opened Roger's knee up and cleaned out the infection and replaced the plastic knee cap. The doctor said this would give him a 50% chance of controlling the infection. They said it was Septic Arthritis. The cultures have all come back as streptococcus. We were able to come home Monday. Roger has a picc line and I have been trained on administering IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks. He is also on a high dose of oral antibiotics for a minimum of 6 months. This will be a long road to recovery. Thank you to everyone for all the continued prayers and support. ❤️
