Athena Brookshire’s Cancer Battle

Story

From Athena’s words: Good morning all my friends and family! 1st of all thank you to everyone who has continued to reach out and check on me over the last month. In the last 2 months I’ve had lots of changes and found out some very hard life changes. As many of you know Tue I went for additional testing regarding my recent Brest cancer diagnosis and yesterday I met with all my wonderful drs at KU for my official diagnosis and treatment plan. It’s definitely was a lot to take in and not at all what I wanted to hear but my diagnosis is stage 3 TRIPLE NEGATIVE INVASIVE DUCTAL CARCINOMA it’s very aggressive and harder to treat but I do still have few more test such as pet scan mri and ct and as long as it has not spread to other areas my stage will be at a 3 if it has I’ll have stage 4! So pls keep praying! The plan is to complete all these test get a port placed and start chemo Dec 26! I will do chemo for 6 months and pray god works his miracle of healing and then I’ll be candidate for surgery to remove what’s left I’ll first have to have cardiac surgery and move pacemaker to other side of chest so it’s out of way they will do surgeries and final step is radiation! This is gonna be very difficult journey for me and my family I’m gonna lose my hair miss work and be sick so I appreciate all offer from so many on help and will definitely take you up on it ! Most of all what I want is love peace and to be happy and enjoy every blessing god has gave me! I love you all and I’ll try and reach out and respond when I can but this is very hard and a lot so pls don’t take it personal if I don’t call or respond right away, thanks again and I love you all

Special Notes

She will have a sugar restriction, but this is also to help her family in time of need. She said it is best to prepare for 4 of them, but at times she has her grandson’s or her boyfriend’s son over visiting so 4-5 people will be great. Thank you for your kind hearts in advance.
