Shannon's Cancer Journey

Story

Hello all this is the story how my cancer journey had came in to play for me this year. I and the doctor thought I I was just having trouble with my send nerve on my right side. I was seeing my regular doctor and then I started seeing a choir practor it helped a little but not I started taking notice at my right leg was still getting worse, but I was still working my full-time job despite the pain I was in and how much I could actually do of my job but I dredged on doing my responsibility for my job and to have money in my pocket. The time frame was from the end of July to the beginning of October 1st is when I finally went into the emergency room because I couldn't take the pain anymore. They ran all kinds of tests did CAT scans MRIs and that's when they discovered that I had broken my back from L4 to l6 and discovered the big mask on my right side that was actually pressing against my sonatic but also gave me the chance of cancer until they did a biopsy I was admitted into the hospital so they could run all these tests and did my first biopsy which it came back that it was cancer multiple melanoma which is very rare. And what I mean by rare is that it is usually a man's cancer African American and usually over the age of 60. I am a female age of 49 active and really didn't have any strange signs that caused any of my physicians to even think in the way that this all went down starting October 1st. So I was in the hospital for 3 days they had given me some medication it's somewhat worked but it didn't it just became progressively worse the mask had grown and caused me to become unable to walk on my right leg I went back into the hospital on October 18th I had to call and ambulance to come take me they proceeded with more testing and then I had started radiation I was not able to walk at the time I started my radiation on October 20th and after the first one I was able to move my right leg bend it I received radiation two more times before I got released from the hospital and then continued my radiation journey for a total of 23 days I was mobile still in pain because of my back being broken and I have to wear a brace from now on I also went through another biopsy so total two biopsies on this growth radiation and then they were trying to come up with a plan with the chemo. After I had completed my radiation for that growth it had shrunk I was mobile not really in that much pain at the time started my chemo I'm on two chemo pills and then I go into the hospital to receive two shots of chemo also to help kill off as much as possible before I go in for a bone marrow transplant in April 2026. But they're having trouble getting the reduces because my blood counts have been low so I'm not able to get treatment it's been 2 weeks since I've gotten treatment every week since I've been off the chemo pills but I'll be going in here this week this January 2nd to see if we can start treatment back up but we will see . Little bit about my personal life a I'm a mother of 4 boys (adult) and my youngest just has is first child which gave me my first grandchild which was a granddaughter. But with the treatment and weather I have not had a chance to meet her yet. I'm originally from Pennsylvania and transferred to Ohio for my work 2 1/2 years ago. I'm not one that puts their life out to people but I have learned that it is best to talk and have happy thoughts and make sure that is what you are surround by great supporting family, peopleand great doctors. This is a little bit of the storey that I'm going through.

Special Notes

I'm not really loud to be in being crowds so I'm not a loud to work because immune caused and I can't really stand or sit for too long just because of my back and I get tired very quickly. Granted I do receive short term disability it not enough to cover bills, food, treatment.
