We are asking for support for my stepfather, Bill Devery, and his wife—my mom—as they face a new and difficult chapter. Bill is one of the kindest, most resilient people you could ever meet. Over 23 years ago, he became paralyzed overnight, and despite countless medical challenges since then, he has never complained and has remained unwaveringly positive. This past week, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer after the biopsy of a mass revealed that he has cancer. His treatment will be especially complex due to his existing health conditions. He will need to travel frequently to New York City for care, which will be physically and emotionally taxing for both him and my mom, who has been his devoted primary caregiver for nearly 23 years. If anyone is able to help—whether by donating meals, offering support, or contributing in any way to ease their daily burden—it would mean more than words can express during this incredibly challenging time.
Bill loves Italian food (and desserts). He does not like fish of any sort. Also if anyone wants to help towards travel and lodging expenses as my mom will be driving back and forth to Sloan Kettering in a wheelchair accessible van that uses a ton of gas and will also be staying near the hospital should he be admitted.
