On July 25th, 2025, I was told there’s a strong likelihood I have pancreatic cancer. The scans revealed something aggressive enough that my doctors aren’t waiting around—we’re moving forward with major surgery to remove about three-fourths of my pancreas. That portion is no longer functioning, and while the final diagnosis will come after surgery, the level of concern is high enough that immediate action is necessary. As you can imagine, it’s been a whirlwind of scans, specialists, and decisions. But even in the fog of it all, one thing has been constant: the love and support of the people around us. Many of you have asked how to help, and we’re deeply grateful. We’ve created this page to point that generosity in directions that will actually carry weight—so that nothing is wasted and we can receive well. The truth is, I’d rather not need help. But I do. And I’m learning that receiving care isn’t weakness—it’s part of how God carries us through seasons like this. So if you’re here and wondering what might make a difference, the two areas where support would be most helpful are: Food Medical Costs Below, you’ll find practical ways to come alongside us in each of those. Whether you give, pray, send a note, or simply check in now and then—we feel it. We’re not walking this alone, and that makes all the difference. F O O D Because of my Type 2 diabetes and the nature of my recovery, food is both necessary and complicated. We’ve had people offer to bring meals (and we’re grateful), but the reality is: we need to be very specific about what I’m eating—especially in the weeks after surgery. The best way to help us with food is through gift cards, identified in the wishlist, which allow us to get what fits my dietary needs without putting pressure on anyone to guess or cook around restrictions. M E D I C A L We’re thankful to have good insurance—but even with it, the surgery and recovery will bring significant out-of-pocket expenses. There are deductibles, prescriptions, medical supplies, and a hundred other things that add up. If you’d like to help here, your support will go directly toward: Out-of-pocket surgical costs Prescription and supplement needs Recovery-related expenses We are trying to steward every dollar carefully and faithfully. Every bit of support here relieves some pressure and lets us focus on what matters most. The easiest way to contribute here would be through Venmo. We don’t take any of this lightly. Your care—whether financial, emotional, or spiritual—is a gift to our family. We know that God is present. We trust Him to provide what we need, often through people like you. Thank you for loving us, helping us carry this load, and reminding us that community is essential.
