Supporting a grieving family

Independence, KS

Story

Hey everyone!! I think it would be a big help to the family to set up a meal train, for those unfamiliar with the story, here is a family members post below! “Dear friends and family, So as you all know our family has just suffered an awful, unexpected loss. We haven’t necessarily had the time to introduce our family to those who don’t know us. Bailey Morris and Jacob Bone are Oakleys mom and dad. I am Gracie Kitterman, Baileys sister and Oakley’s “Auntie”. Jake and Bailey also have Willow, Oakleys older sister. Oakley Ryan is 6 months old, and the most happy, healthy and loving baby. Spending time with her Mom, dad and older sissy is her favorite thing to do. She loves when they sing “You are my sunshine” to her. She loves unicorns, caterpillars, and butterflies. To know Oakley is to adore her. She was nothing short of absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, Oakley was rushed to the Emergency Room February 12th after Her mom and dad woke up to her completely unresponsive. After immediately starting CPR and calling the ambulance she was taken to the emergency room where she was resuscitated after 40 minutes. Oakley was then life flighted to children’s mercy in Kansas City. After days of anxiously waiting for test results to come back, her MRI results showed that her Reticular Activating System had failed due to not receiving oxygen to her brain. She would never wake up again. Oakley was able to spend two more days with us after her MRI. Her body was tired, and couldn’t fight much longer. Her Mama, and Daddy spent every second they could, knowing it would soon be their last. Our families came together to show our love, and support for our sweet girl. February 17th, 2026 at 5:37pm we lost Oakley. She took her last breath in her Mamas arms with her daddy right next to her. Oakley went to Heaven at peace, and is no longer in pain. I’m asking for donations to help our family prepare for a funeral we never expected to plan. As well as unexpected medical expenses. With your help, we will be able to lay our sweet girl to rest and help cover medical expenses. Thank you all for the continued love, prayers and support. If you do not have chime, we do have other options to receive donations. Please share as much as possible.”
