From Lilith: Community support My family and I have lived in Sealy just over a year and all family lives 1-2 hours away. We're needing some help. Long post, sorry😅 I have a rare genetic disease called Von Hippel Lindau (VHL) that causes tumors to grow throughout my body. I currently have 2 brain(cerebral), 4 spinal, 1 in my left eye and on both kidneys. Most are begnin except my kidneys, I have renal cell carcinoma. There's no cure for VHL, but within the last decade treatment became available, Welireg. Before Welireg, a type of chemotherapy, the only treatment was surgery. Chemo has significantly shrunk my brain and spinal tumors, however the cyst(in brain) and syrinx(spine) are causing major issues. Around the end of January I started to feel a little off and chucked it up to anxiety for my upcoming MRIs. On Feb 2nd I had a TIA, aka minor stroke, I'm 30 years old. The cyst is causing swelling in my brain, whiched is why I had a TIA. The syrinx is widening my spine, causing a laundry list of issues in my body. My care team and I have been closely monitoring my VHL since 2024, but the cyst exploded in size between imaging. I spend a lot of time going at the doctor and going to and from. Hence the lack of social life. On March 6th, I will undergo a 15 hour, double operation at MD Anderson to remove the tumors, cyst and syrinx. Brain and spinal surgery, I have a very long recovery ahead of me. Our family will be caring for our daughter and pets during this time, but I have a favor to ask. Would anyone be willing to help manage a meal train? As you can image, I'm incredibly stressed and we have so much to do. I just don't have the bandwidth to meal prep nor the extra funds to support a small business like Dinner Doll. I truly would love to, please go place an order with her! My husband has his own load of stuff he needs to do to prep, and I would like to alleviate the stress of post op for him as well. I will try my best to reply to individual comments but please understand, I'm not ignoring you. Everything happened so quick and I'm JUST now processing it. Please message me if your willing to help manage a meal train. I'm so desperate it's actually funny. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and take a crash course of VHL.
Unfortunately no tomato based dishes or sauces. (like lasagna, chili, spaghetti). No beans and limited pork dishes.
