Belle Plaine, MN

Story

Shannon suffered a heart attack and went into full cardiac arrest the evening of March 13th. Shannon was not feeling the best during the day starting out with flu symptoms. Her husband Travis aided Shannon in bringing her some water and assisted in cleaning up. Travis went back to sleeping out on the couch and heard Shannon making a gasping sound. Thank God that he ran back to check on her again as Shannon stopped breathing and did not have a pulse. Travis's quick thinking in starting CPR and calling 911 saved her life. The Paramedics came and determined that Shannon's life was in critical condition. A Cardiologist was driven to the residence where they performed ECMO procedure in the back of the ambulance the first in the nation! Once Shannon was stable enough she was airlifted to the University of Minnesota. Currently she is stable while the machines do the work along with being medically sedated to give her body time to recover. Doctor's will slowly take her off sedation as her body progresses without the aid of the ECMO and breathing tubes. Shannon will be at the U of M in ICU anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Once out of the ICU Shannon will have a long road ahead for recovery. Travis's Mom, Tammy also known as Grandma will be staying and helping out with the girls. Travis has been the sole provider for the family as Shannon has been a stay at home Mommy. There is a link to GoFundMe as well. This fund will help recover lost wages, daily parking fees and any medical expenses that will incur during the weeks to come. Hope and Healing for Shannon's Heart https://gofund.me/80764e962
