Love and Support for the Daley’s

Story

A Story of Strength: My Mom’s Journey Through MDS This past June, our world shifted the moment my mom heard the words Myelodysplastic Syndrome—a diagnosis none of us were prepared for. What followed has been a long, exhausting, and courageous journey marked by multiple bone marrow biopsies, rounds of chemotherapy, and the emotional weight that comes with each new step. Despite everything, my mom has faced this fight with remarkable strength. She has listened to every difficult update, endured every painful procedure, and held tight to hope even when the road ahead felt uncertain. Now, her next and most critical chapter is approaching. In January, she will undergo a bone marrow transplant—an intense and high-risk procedure, one that carries only a 40% chance of survival. To prepare, she will receive extensive chemotherapy and radiation therapy the first week and then the second week undergo Bonemarrow Transplant. She will be in the hospital for six weeks under intensive care. During that time, my dad will travel back and forth to be with her as much as he can, balancing love, home needs, and the overwhelming responsibility of caregiving. We are incredibly grateful for the donor who is giving my mom the chance to keep fighting—a gift that words can never fully express. But the journey doesn’t end after the transplant. Once she leaves the hospital, she will begin a 100-day period of constant monitoring, with daily trips back to the medical center for blood checks and follow-up care. And even after those 100 days, her recovery will continue for a year if not years depending on the outcome. It will be a slow, fragile process, requiring ongoing medical care, strict precautions, and an enormous amount of strength and support. As with most medical battles, the financial strain has added another layer of hardship. She urgently needs dental procedures before transplant, plus there are costs for caregiving, travel, lodging, food preparation, and other unexpected needs—not to mention the ongoing medical expenses. And despite the seriousness of her condition, my parents did not qualify for assistance programs, missing the income requirement by just $200. We are facing a long road—one none of us expected—but we are walking it together with faith, determination, and hope. If you feel it in your heart to help—whether through donations, sharing her story, or simply keeping my mom in your prayers—we would be deeply grateful. Every gesture brings comfort and light during one of the hardest chapters of her life. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for supporting my mom and our family through this journey. Your kindness truly makes a difference.
