Rooted in Resilience, Isabella's Recovery

Story

On March 23, 2020, life dramatically changed for Isabella. Her husband, Alan, suffered an unexpected brain aneurysm, which nearly took his life and resulted in Isabella becoming his full-time caregiver. Then, in November 2021, Isabella was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Due to the drastic life change with Alan, the subsequent immense financial hardships, and a lack of reliable transportation, Isabella’s ability to receive timely treatment for her condition has been impeded for the last three and a half years. This March, Isabella received a pathology finding of precancer in her uterus, which is rare, and affects just 133 out of 100,000 women. Isabella’s oncologists recommend the following treatment plan to be completed in three to four phases beginning as soon as possible. Treatments are listed in order of urgency: • Rush referral to pulmonology to evaluate two nodules with potential bronchoscopy • Uterine surgery to send to pathology for staging – June 24-26 2025 • Total thyroidectomy – August 3-12, 2025 • Left and right central neck dissection – August 3-12, 2025 • Left and right lateral neck dissection – August 3-12, 2025 • Isolation radiation – October 3-9, 2025 (7-days) • PET scan – November 4, 2025 • Hysterectomy – November 18-24 2025 Isabella is facing multiple challenges in the coming months and has made the difficult decision to ask for help. Until now, Isabella has mostly navigated her journey alone, as most of her immediate family and friends live out-of-state and have full lives with their own families and responsibilities. Isabella’s desire is not to be a burden to anyone, but the reality is, she needs the help and care of a strong support system to come alongside her as she continues this journey. First and foremost, Isabella and Alan covet your prayers for Isabella’s complete recovery. Additionally, I am asking for financial donations and volunteers to help so that Isabella can receive the treatments she requires and to allow her to fully recover from all her procedures. Logistically, all testing and hospital facilities are located more than an hour away from Isabella’s home, requiring her to secure overnight or extended-stay accommodations. Because Isabella is without reliable transportation and remains the only driver in her household, it is necessary for her to rent vehicles or hire driving services to aid in the transportation when she undergoes anesthesia and invasive surgical procedures which require her not to drive for extended periods of time.
