Every act of kindness, every dollar, and every moment of your time brings us closer to achieving our mission. Together, we can transforming trauma and violence into empowerment, advance systemic healing, and develop leaders for lasting change. Survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence walk through our doors everyday. The #1 reason people stay in abusive relationships is financial need. We often encounter survivors whose basic needs need to be met before they can fully engage with our counseling and support services. This fundraiser is to help us get gift cards to meet some of these basic needs (transportation, every day essentials) to help people leaving domestic and sexual violent relationships make that transition smoother. Our wishlist items center on 3 categories most survivors need when they come to our offices: 🚕. Transportation: survivors need transportation to a hotel, shelter, appointments. 🛒 Groceries: we are increasingly seeing survivors who are having a hard time meeing their and their families basic needs. ‼️ Essentials: AirBnB for emergency short-term shelter or Target/Wal-mart to give survivors agency and freedom of choice on the items they get for themselves to help them in their healing journey.
