Sophie Bella's Strength Support

Leland, NC

Story

Embracing Faith Amidst Uncertainty: On April 18, our lives took an unexpected turn with the early arrival of our beloved Sophie Bella. Born 17 weeks premature, at just 23 weeks & 4 days gestation, her entrance into the world was met with a mix of love & apprehension. Weighing a mere 15.5 ounces, Sophie's journey began in the depths of uncertainty, her tiny frame facing monumental challenges from the very start. Pre-mature labor caused by a placental infection, with symptoms being dismissed by a provider. As we navigate this uncharted territory, we're confronted with the stark reality of Sophie Bella's fragile condition. The medical terminology categorizes her as an extreme preemie, a nano micro-pre-emie, a label that underscores the delicate balance between hope & fear that defines each moment. Yet, within her small form lies a spirit of resilience that defies all odds—a testament to the strength of the human spirit in its purest form. In the wake of Sophie Bella's premature birth, our world has been engulfed in a whirlwind of emotions. The trauma of laboring & delivering at home, coupled with the overwhelming uncertainty of her prognosis, has left us grappling with a myriad of emotions. But amid the chaos, there is a glimmer of hope—a beacon of light that illuminates the path forward. Today, we celebrate Sophie Bella's sixth day in this world, we're reminded of the preciousness of life & the resilience of the human spirit. Each day is a gift, a testament to Sophie's unwavering determination to defy the odds stacked against her. As we embark on this journey together, we're buoyed by the unwavering support of our family & friends—a lifeline that sustains us in our darkest hours. In the days & weeks ahead, we know that the road will be fraught with challenges. The next 7-10 days, in particular, are critical as we continue to support Sophie Bella's fragile development. With the gift of each day likely leaning towards a least a 110 day stay in the NICU. But through it all, we hold onto faith—a steadfast belief that miracles are possible, even in the face of adversity. To streamline communication & protect our peace of mind, we've created private social medias to share updates on Sophie Bella's progress, please request these pages if you’d like updates. Sparing ourselves the burden of clinical inquiries, & focusing on the love that sustains us. As well as will be sharing point people to organize support efforts. As we stand on the precipice of uncertainty, we do so with unwavering hope & faith in the power of love. Together, let us rally around Sophie Bella, showering her with prayers, love, & unwavering support. For in the darkest of moments, it is love that will light the way forward. Thank you for standing by our side.

Special Notes

Mercedes has a Mushroom Allergy. No raw tomatoes (cooked is fine), cucumber, honey dew, cantaloupe for Mercedes. Only animal protein moms eat currently is chicken. Cheese is ok for Mercedes, but no milk or yogurt (vegan alternatives is fine), and Nicole can/will do all dairy. Mercedes eats a balanced low carbohydrate diet (less than 30-40 grams per meal), and would prefer those options, but please no artificial sweeteners (sucralose, saccarin, etc), but Stevia and Monk Fruit sweeteners is fine. Always a preference towards less processed food, and more nutritious options. Flowers cannot be kept at hospital, so moms would prefer plants (easy to care for) sent to house, if you wish to send flowers, instead that can grow with Sophie Bella. Nicole and Mercedes save every greeting card, and would love to have some greeting cards/letters sent to them and Sophie Bella. Please compose a heartfelt letter/card to the courageous moms/Sophie Bella while Sophie Bella is in the NICU, offering words of encouragement, support, and love during this challenging journey. Share your well wishes, words of strength, and perhaps your own experiences or stories of the moms and how you've seen their resilience in action to remind them of it through this time, and teach Sophie a bit about her moms. Visitation: Moms are available for visitors between 8-10 AM, and 2-4PM. Notice must be given via text or call. 8AM/ 2PM is her care time and you'd be able to see Sophie Bella under day light during this time. Meal Drop offs: Dinner time, only drop offs, this is typically when moms are preparing for sleep, and the overwhelm of the day hits. Clinical Updates: Please check social media.
