Hello friends, Chad McNeeley here. Our dear friends Jessica Knott and Devin Watson are in need of our love and support. Jess’s father, Dennis (“Denny”), has been diagnosed with an extremely aggressive, stage IV lung cancer. The cancer has spread to other organs including the brain, and prognosis is poor. If treatment is pursued, it will focus on managing the disease, relieving symptoms, and maintaining quality of life. To allow Jess and Dev to focus fully on Denny’s care, Jess has asked for help with meals. As they were such a source of support for Liz and me during our own time of need this past summer, this is the very least we can do—and I hope many of you will be able to join us. Denny is a straightforward, meat-and-potatoes kind of guy. Jess is hoping, for now, just 1–2 meals per week for four people. Needs may change as Denny’s disease progresses, and updates will be shared on the Meal Train page and via text as appropriate. Liz and I (along with some others on this list) will be away on retreat beginning this Saturday and will return Sunday, February 15. Support during those ten days would be especially meaningful while several of us are out of town. We will reengage as soon as we return. Meals can be delivered to: 3316 Gilman Terrace Baltimore, MD 21211 For those who are traveling, on retreat, or living out of town, ordering meals for delivery is also a wonderful way to help. We are deeply grateful for any support this community can offer. Jess, Dev, Kathleen—and of course Denny—are equally thankful. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly with any questions or concerns. With gratitude, Chad and Elisabeth
- Denny is a meat-and-potatoes man. - Kathleen is on a kidney-friendly, low-sodium diet. We will pull recipes that work specifically for her and post ideas here. - Jess and Devin eat everything. No need for different meals for us, we’ll eat whatever is made for her parents.
