Tina Gilliland - Loving Lila Looks Like This

TULSA, OK

Story

My name is Jayden Gilliland. I would like to tell you about the strongest women I know, Tina Gilliland & Lila McGuire, my mom and great-grandmother. Since September, Tina has been caring for my Great-Grandma Lila (Mike Gilliland's mom), who is on hospice, and relocated Lila from Muskogee to her home in Tulsa. In order to be present with Lila and make sure she is comfortable and surrounded by love, Tina lost her job on the assumption that she would be unable to work. The job she loved and excelled at. If there's one thing I know, she works; she makes things work. Lila does not have life insurance. Her Social Security is temporarily frozen and hasn't been disbursed since September. Tina has had to cover all of Lila's care and expenses out of pocket, using any savings. Right now, those savings are gone. I am asking for help (because she is too prideful), so she can continue caring for Lila with dignity, while also keeping her household and our family afloat during this incredibly difficult time — including the holidays. There is a need for daily living, as well as end of life services. This year we are not concerned with the gifts. Only giving Grandma Lila the end she deserves.Tina is sleeping an average of 2 hours, when Lila does, or when she can between phone calls and pouring over paperwork trying to get things in order. You see, this is not her first rodeo. She always takes care of family when they are in their last months, weeks, days. That is who she is. Any support, whether financial, practical, or through sharing this page, truly means more than I can put into words. Thank you for being part of what loving Lila looks like. Gilliland. A name I am proud to carry.

Special Notes
