Love and Support for Cody as he Fights Against Leukemia

Auburn, IN

Story

My name is Amanda, Angie's sister. I am asking for your support and love for my sweet nephew, Cody, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. This has been an unexpected and overwhelming journey for our entire family, especially for his incredible parents, my sister, Angie and brother-in-law, Nick-both proud Army veterans who have always been the first to show up for others. Now, they’re facing the toughest battle of their lives alongside their son. Below, you’ll find a message from them sharing more about Cody's diagnosis and the road ahead. If you’re able to give, share, or simply keep them in your prayers, every bit of support means more than words can say. From Angie and Nick: "Words we'd never thought we would have to write. Cody, our sweet 12-year-old boy has cancer. Leukemia. It has been a long month, filled with uncertainties, unknowns, questions, and heartbreak. We already spent 11 days at Riley's Children's Hospital, where we got his diagnosis and began treatment. The goal was for him to be discharged and start outpatient therapy here in town. Unfortunately, we were thrown another curveball. Treatment has to change. Cody is expected to be back at Riley, in Indy, for approximately five to six months for intense chemotherapy to treat AML. This comes with more uncertainty and extended time away from his younger brother, Jase. We want Jase to have a parent around as much as possible, but we will be leaning on our family and friends who are generously helping us make sure he is cared for and surrounded by love and normalcy. We are thankful for the community we have built. We know we have an army behind us. Our primary goal is to focus on being by Cody's side, helping him feel safe and loved, while also making sure Jase receives the same love and support. Due to the intense treatment schedule and distance from home, we will be working minimally so we can focus on our kids and their needs. There will be long, grueling hospital days and long drives back and forth as Nick and I tag-team being at Cody's bedside. We are taking things one hour at a time, one day at a time, and we know we cannot do this alone. Our immediate needs are prayers. Lots of them. Pray for Cody's strength and healing. For wisdom for his medical team. Peace and courage for our family. Please continue to send messages, love, and encouragement. They lift us daily. We won't always get to respond, but please know we are seeing them. Thank you for loving Cody and walking this road with us. We feel your strength behind us every day." Love, Angie and Nick If you want to follow Cody's journey, updates will be posted here. On behalf of Angie, Nick, Cody, and Jase, and our entire extended family, thank you.
