Help Destiny's Little Family Rebuild Hope (Single Mother)

W
Story

I never imagined I would find myself in a position where I needed to ask others for help, but right now, my son and I are doing everything we can to get through a very difficult chapter of our lives. I am a single mom to my amazing 7-year-old son, my loving little wild child, who is currently being evaluated for ADHD. I am also expecting another baby. This pregnancy has brought a lot of emotions and uncertainty because financially and emotionally, I have been struggling to simply keep us going. I have questioned whether I could do this and have even considered adoption and abortion—choices I never thought I would consider. But carrying this baby has created a connection that is difficult to explain, and I am doing my best to move forward with faith and hope. Recently, the home where I was living with roommates was unexpectedly going through a property tax issue and was going to be sold at auction. We had very little time to figure out where we would go. In the process, my son and I lost many of our belongings and, more importantly, our sense of stability. This happened shortly after I had finally gotten away from a toxic domestic violence relationship. What followed was another frightening experience when people I thought were friends allowed us to stay with them temporarily but eventually put us out and left our belongings outside after I refused unwanted sexual advances. Being pregnant and having my 7-year-old with me made that experience especially painful and scary. Thankfully, a friend eventually gave us a temporary place to stay. We are incredibly grateful, even though we currently don't have a bedroom or much personal space of our own. I am also waiting to hear what comes next after being accepted for a project-based housing voucher. For now, I am simply trying to hold everything together while we wait for a permanent home. My biggest goal is to create a safe, stable life for my children. I want to return to school to study cosmetology and build a career that will allow me to support my family independently. I have already registered for a program, but reliable transportation is extremely important because attendance is required for my financial aid. I am also trying to keep up with everyday necessities for my son and our growing family—clothing, shoes, hygiene products, food, transportation, and the many little things children need. My son has been through so much alongside me, yet he continues to be my motivation not to give up. He is incredibly loving and has taught me more patience, strength, and compassion than I ever knew I had. Last Christmas, his gift came late, and I apologized to him. He looked at me and said, “It’s okay, Mama. I already got my gift because you are my gift.” That moment has stayed with me. He deserves stability. He deserves to feel safe. And my baby deserves a chance to come into a home filled with love and hope. The most helpful support right now would be anything that helps us become stable again: reliable transportation, help with basic living expenses, food and hygiene necessities, clothing and shoes for my son, baby supplies, and eventually help getting into a safe and permanent home. Support toward my education would also mean so much because my goal isn't to depend on others forever—I want to rebuild our lives and become financially independent. I am not asking because I have given up. I am asking because I am trying not to give up. I know we have a long road ahead, but I have faith that this storm will eventually pass. Every bit of kindness, encouragement, prayer, or financial support helps us take another step forward. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping us find our way toward a safer, more stable future. ❤️
