Laney Montero (Orr) and family as they grieve the loss of Sydelia Rae Orr

Chandler, AZ

Story

From Laney's facebook post... I don’t know how.. Our Sydelia, hadn’t been feeling herself. Was going to doctor appointments and getting some tests , all were clear but cardio gram showed an irregularity. She was going to see a cardiologist on Tuesday of this coming week. Thursday her school nurse called to tell me that she got dizzy going up the stairs. Blood pressure normal but heart rate running close to 100. Ed came over, she ordered her favorites from Uber eats, a cucumber roll and seaweed salad and Miso soup. We wanted to take her to ER and not wait for the appointments but she begged us to let her get a good nights’ sleep first and we’d go very early Friday morning. I agreed… I slept with her and around 4 am she got up and went to the bathroom. She was in there a while so I went to check on her. The door was blocked by her body. She was collapsed on the floor but with her head up on the tub mouth open, not breathing. Willie helped me get her on her back and 911 talked me through 30 pumps of CPR, Right at 30 EMTs & firemen arrived and continued CPR. They got a slight pulse and took her in the ambulance to Chandler Regional Hospital. We followed and when we got there, they took us to a little room. A social worker came in to tell us that she passed at 5:26 - The outpouring of love from all her friends, her coaches, her teachers, the lunch ladies she worked with… Her wrestling team had a balloon release first thing yesterday morning and her mountain bike team had a candlelight vigil last night. Her buddies from our old neighborhood came and made her a beautiful poster, Her coaches in tears spoke of her drive and determination, her kindness, her wry sense of humor. Everyone who knew her truly loved her and could feel the love from her. She volunteered whenever she could. She always asked me how I was and did Radom acts of kindness like bringing me flowers or making me a special dessert. She was interested in learning about everything. She was truly non stop. *** Sydelia was a shining light in so many people's lives. She was bright, motivated, talented, hard working, and she fought for what she believed in. She was a force to be reckoned with, and a love like no other. Her loss is profound to all who knew her. At just 16 years old and incredible good health through exercise and vegetarian eating, it is hard to see how this could have happened. Life was just getting started for Syd. Unfortunately, we may not know the cause of her death for some months. Please consider joining this meal-train to take something off the plates of this family who is grieving a loss no family should ever have to face. Feel free to share this with anyone who is interested in helping in this way. I will post for her father, Edmund Orr if he is open to that in the coming days. I will also find a way to post other ways to help the family out when I know more. I know that no family is prepared financially to go through these expenses, and my guess is that they might have other ideas on how to honor Sydelia Rae Orr in the coming days.
