What started as the flu, led to what could have been a parent’s worse nightmare. Cameron Byrd & his parents Denise & Randy along with his sisters are currently in the midst of the road to recovery. After weeks of battling the flu and being told by hospitals and doctors “it just has to run its course”, Cam became extremely ill. After becoming unresponsive & being rushed to a hospital and then transferred to UF it was quickly confirmed by a spinal tap that he had bacterial meningitis due to high fevers caused from the flu. Thankful to his parents quick thinking and the actions of the hospital getting him to UF for the best of care, he has made a great improvement though the road ahead to recovery will continue to be treated & monitored in hospital with his family by his side. He has had multiple test and procedures and those will continue in order to treat this condition. As you know the hospital stay can get expensive, along with his parents missing work to be with him during this time we would like to come together to help in any way we can as his community & friends.
Since he will maintain in ICU items allowed to enter are limited so at this time gift cards seem to be the best option.
