I am a single parent of 2 amazing boys they are 19 and 15. About 4yrs ago I struggled with some medical issues that brought me down a brutal path of addiction. During this time I ran my own property management business which was suffering tremendously from the stipulations put in place by the government, my pay was a percentage of all rents collected. When the courts closed and I had no recourse to collect the rents my tenants stopped paying I lost my business my drug problem escalated times 1000. I lost everything. I have been clean a little over 2yrs and no inclination of ever using again. My sister took my kids on why I got better. I finally was able to secure an apartment but I have come into this with the clothes on my back I lost my storage I lost everything. Im reaching out for help to furnish my house to get the things needed so my apartment feels like home. After bills are paid there is nothing left. We have mattresses no bed frames and minimal kitchen supplies. I am in Torrington and unfortunately have no transportation. Most importantly I'm looking for bunk beds full over full. A dresser an area rug and really some specific things to make their room feel like it's there own. These kids deserve the world the heartbreaking stressful confusing situation they where thrusted into they maintained their core morals and beliefs never wavering from what was in their heart. Straight As perfect attendence involved in extra curricular activities such as student council the debate team sports. They have been so strong and resilient I wish I could give them the world and the reality is I can't do much for them financially but after all of this I want them to feel like this is there home to feel some solidarity peace to feel at ease. My older son is 19 but he is on the autism spectrum and I have dedicated my life to making him self sufficient and giving him the skills and abilities to function properly in his community the last couple years has created a huge setback but I'm confident that with a lot of work and the right resources I can get him back on track.
