On Sunday 1/11/26 - Larry and Annie went for their usual Sunday motorcycle ride. Unfortunately on the Ewa Beach exit turn, he lost control of their ride and slid out on the turn. Annie was thrown to one side of the road and Larry to the opposite. Thankfully both had full protective gear on, and an ambulance was just nearby and came quickly to help. Unfortunately, despite the protective gear and helmet, Larry lost movement and feeling from the neck down even though no bones were broken. He had a surgery that same day to fuse his C2-C5 with rods and screws. Annie sustained some bruising and scratches but is ok physically. There will be a long road of recovery for Larry, but he is already showing signs of improvement and sensation, including ability to wiggle his right toes. He was supposed to start his new job the very next day, so the timing of the accident is an added challenge to their family as they navigate healing and sustaining their family financially through this. Right now morale support through visits and financial support through meal gift cards or funds is appreciated as Annie spends a lot of time helping Larry at the hospital.
Larry currently at Kaiser Moanalua ICU, floor 5, rm 501. No allergies but Larry has to avoid dairy for now so as not to upset his stomach. Their rehab care is covered for the first 4 months but there will likely be much longer care needed, so anything that can support would be appreciated - And of course PRAYER! 🙏🏼
