We are believing for a miracle but until then...join us in surrounding this beautiful family with love and support though this next part of their journey. We all need our village and yet, times like this we get to step up, step in, and go the extra mile for those we love. Please join us as we walk along side the Privette Family! A note from Sarah: Family and Friends, Right now I am at a loss for words, but will try to do my best to update you with what we know. Today, Matt was given a provisional diagnosis of Stage 1 High Risk Burkitt Lymphoma. He will undergo an incisional biopsy on Wednesday, October 21, and will begin aggressive chemotherapy on October 26. Because this type of cancer (1-2%) is rare and aggressive, an aggressive chemotherapy regimen is also necessary. He will be admitted for five days (Monday-Friday) to receive his treatments, and we are currently looking at this happening every three weeks, for six rounds, followed by infusions and labs during subsequent weeks on an outpatient basis. The doctor said that there is a small chance that it could be Diffuse large b cell lymphoma, but he feels it is unlikely, given molecular testing and scans. We won’t know for certain until pathology reports come back, and anticipate knowing more when we meet with the oncologist again on November 9. If it is Diffuse, we could be looking at less aggressive chemotherapy administered on an outpatient basis for subsequent rounds. PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS! We serve a God that is not surprised by all this, and know HE will give us what we need, as we continue to rely on him, one step at a time. Receiving news like this sure does have a way of taking the air out of your lungs and putting things in perspective in an instant, that’s for sure. I am trying to wrap my mind around the logistics of it all, while also taking time to feel and process. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to walk out this journey. Some may wonder why I continue to make these posts, but truth is - it is a really easy and effective way to communicate information, and I feel compelled to share our story - the good, the bad, and the ugly truth. I don’t want to walk around pretending, holding things in, and know that your support is what will help us get through this. If you would like to show your support and don’t know how to help, here are some ways you can help: - Pray - Gift cards are also helpful so we can eat on the go and pay for expenses as things unfold. Gift cards can be sent via email to: [email protected] - Paypal: [email protected] - Venmo: @Sarah-Privette-7 - CashApp: $MrsPrivette - Consider adding some childcare hours to our account at Playdate in Greenville, NC - they do require you to come in person to do this (Sarah and Matthew Privette Family ID: 32060). I know that there may be times in the days ahead that we may need a break and/or may need to have the flexibility to drop the kids off. Playdate is a great drop off childcare option in our community that we use regularly. - Send us cards, so we can put them up around his hospital room and the house and be reminded of the love we are surrounded by during these uncertain and trying times: 3633 North Main St Farmville, NC 27828
The Privette's have requested meal help for the weeks Matt is in Chemo for Sarah and the boys so that she does not have to plan or prep dinner after being at the hospital and to show the boys some extra care/support while their Dad is not home to tuck them in at night. Along with meals, any fun activities (ie: coloring pages, sticker books) for the boys to do while dad is away may help keep their minds off of the changes to their routines. There are limited diet restrictions but Matt prefers no peanut butter and they would prefer kid friendly meals. If you are in need of suggestions feel free to reach out to Crystal Pritchard at 252-916-6772. Due to the nature of this aggressive course of Chemo treatment and ramping up into cold/flu season we are requesting that any meal support be dropped off on their front porch. PLEASE feel free to include a card or note of encouragement! We appreciate your understanding as we all navigate this uncharted territory!
