**5/31/24 Update** After a short break between treatments to let Mike's body rest and recover and a nice family vacay to Port Aransas, Mike starts the 2nd and more intense round of chemotherapy tonight. This round will be two-and-a-half times stronger than the last round he did in conjunction with radiation. He will be completing this round at home and traveling to MD Anderson periodically for testing. The first couple weeks of treatment tend to hit pretty hard, so please consider providing a meal to the Hansen family to help get them through and slightly ease the burden. And of course, please continue praying for Mike as he continues to fight and kick cancer's butt! **3/27/24 Update** From Mike: "I've been thinking a lot lately...I'm standing on the patients, doctors, and engineers that came before me. Without their successes and failures, I wouldn't have a shot. Think of the millions of patients who have died fighting cancer over the years. Think of the doctors who have learned from each other and altered their treatment plans as a result. Think of the engineers who've made advancements in imaging. Without them, I'd be dead. I am standing on the shoulders of a lot of people who came before me and that says nothing about the support all of you are giving me. I'm so grateful." Mike is currently in his second week of radiation and chemotherapy at MD Anderson in Houston. Though we are so grateful that he is receiving the best treatment, this is challenging for the family as Angie and the boys are still here in Georgetown. This creates unique emotional and financial challenges for the whole family. Your continued prayers and any form of support you feel led to offer is a blessing and appreciated more than you know! The best way to offer financial support is through Venmo. You can send your donation to Angie: @Angela-Hansen-37 **3/14/24 UPDATE** Next week, Mike begins treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. He will be doing radiation 5 days a week for 5 weeks in conjunction with chemotherapy 7 days a week for 6 weeks. He will be completing treatment there at MDA in Houston so that they can monitor his health closely. While we are so grateful that Mike will be receiving treatment and care from the BEST, this obviously creates logistical and financial challenges on Mike, Angie, and the boys. The best ways to help will be in the form of gift cards/monetary donations, and occasional help with housework/laundry/lawncare. All the support and prayers mean the world and are so appreciated! For quick and easy monetary donations, you can Venmo Angie directly here: @Angela-Hansen-37 **MIKE'S STORY** Mike and Angie began the new year with Mike having a grand mal seizure, which quickly led to finding out that, after almost 9 years, his brain cancer had returned. He had surgery on Wednesday , February 7th and is blowing the doctors out of the water with his progress and should be coming home very soon. We will begin the fight again soon after just like we did last time. We appreciate everyone who has already known about this and rallied around us. We feel incredibly blessed to have such a strong foundation of people around us and know Mike will kick cancers ass just like he did last time. There have many inquiries about how people can help. We appreciate all juju, prayers, and various forms of support!
For those offering meals: Food allergy: Shellfish Mike is following a low-inflammatory diet - lots of fish, tofu, veggies, brown rice. If you plan to make a meal and need ideas, please feel free to reach out to Mike's sister-in-law, Katie (512-810-2531) or ask Angie about some of their favorites. Please do not stress too much about this, just keep in mind healthy over comfort food! We are so grateful to everyone for contributing! At this time porch drop offs would be best as we are trying to keep Mike as healthy as possible ! Thank you!
