Story
On Wednesday February 21st, Valentina began experiencing pain in her right shoulder and upper abdomen that caused concern and prompted Christian to take her to labor and delivery at 33 weeks pregnant. Once at Labor and Delivery they were relieved to find that Emilia was unstressed and doing fine but Valentina was continuing to experience a lot of pain. She received an ultrasound and CT scan where a hematoma was discovered on her liver. In the span of a few minutes the hematoma ruptured causing Valentina to bleed internally, dropping her blood pressure and putting stress on Emilia. Valentina was rushed into an emergency C-section to deliver Emilia and surgery to save her life. She stayed in the hospital for a total of 13 days and was discharged on Sunday March 3rd. Emilia remains in the NICU and is continuing to grow and get stronger each day. Christian spent every night and day in the hospital alongside Valentina and Emilia caring for both his wife and daughter. They are relieved to be home but are asking for help and support as they prepare for Emilia’s release from the NICU while Valentina continues to recover from her surgeries.
