On May 5th, Colleen will undergo scheduled emergency surgery to remove a softball-sized mass in her abdomen. The procedure will require a vertical incision from the belly button down. She will be in the hospital for 2–8 days and then out of work for 6–13 weeks while she heals. If the mass is isolated and not attached to other organs, she will likely be out of work for six weeks. If it is attached to or growing from any organs, and additional internal structures must be removed, her recovery could extend up to 13 weeks. Her job requires core stability and mobility, making this a serious health situation. Colleen is a self-employed massage therapist with private insurance, and medical costs can be very high. Even with health insurance, pre-deductible and out-of-pocket expenses can quickly add up. With a loss of income during her 6–13 week recovery, the financial burden will likely be overwhelming. If you are able to help ease that burden during this difficult time in Colleen’s life, your support will go toward utilities, her mortgage, and everyday expenses. Colleen is a very strong, independent woman who has been battling MS, hyper-thyroid and Gravis disease. We do not want her to face this new health challenge alone.
