Melissa has been courageously battling breast cancer since 2021. What began as stage 3 has now progressed to stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, with a recent diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer. The disease has spread to her thyroid and lungs, with several other areas still being monitored. As a result, Melissa is beginning a more aggressive treatment plan involving both chemotherapy and immunotherapy at the infusion center. At this time, we know treatment starts 7/11/25 and will continue through December, though there is no definitive end date yet for this round. There is still more to be discovered, and her care team will continue to adjust treatment as they learn more. For now, we’re aiming to rally support through December and will reassess as needed. Melissa and her family have lived in our community since 2012. A devoted mom to three kids—from kindergarten to 8th grade—she manages the home, supports her family, volunteers at her children’s school, and serves in her church. She’s been a constant presence in our community, and now it’s our turn to show up for her.
