Debbie was taken to the ER on Sunday, September 20th. By the following morning, she had become septic and experienced numerous serious complications throughout her hospital stay. She ultimately suffered from kidney failure, respiratory failure, severe anemia, pneumonia, and significant electrolyte imbalances. Her condition became serious enough that she required emergency dialysis for two days to remove excess fluid from her body. During her hospitalization, she was treated by a multidisciplinary team, including nephrology (kidney), pulmonology (lung), hematology (blood), critical care/intensivist, speech therapy, and physical therapy. She spent approximately a week between the ICU and PCU. She developed fluid buildup in her lungs in addition to pneumonia. Because of the severity of the infection and fluid in her lungs, the pulmonologist performed a bronchoscopy to help clear her airways. She was also treated with IV antibiotics to fight the infection. As many of you know, she is one healthy individual, so it has been an extremely difficult and serious hospitalization for her, and she has been through a lot in a short amount of time. She is now recovering at PAM health rehab as she’s still requiring oxygen and intensive physical therapy in hopes to get back to her baseline. We are creating this website to involve family and friends in daily updates and giving the option to provide her with meal aids following discharge from PAM rehab and/or wishlist items. Most importantly, there is a section to leave notes for her whenever you’d like. Feel free to text Missy, Delaney, or Brian for any questions
She can have visitors in the morning and during the day at PAM! However; she is in an intense physical therapy program during her stay. PAM provides her with 3 meals a day, if you’d like to assist with meals for when she goes home you should be able to do so on here! Or message one of us. She is on a low Salt diet! We encourage mainly water or juice to drink
