As some of you know, Steve has had a rough couple of years. In September 2023, he was in a bad accident that caused him to lose his job. After months of rehab, he was finally released back to work when his health took a turn. In August 2024, he started having swelling in the groin area, which led to trips to urgent care and visits to specialty doctors. Tests, scans, biopsies, blood work, more doctors, and specialists. His lymph nodes were swelling, and they didn't know why. Finally, after multiple biopsies (5), we received a diagnosis. Steve has been diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma (non-Hodgkin's). He had a chemoport implanted on 8/11, and we had a visit to Fred Hutchinson yesterday, 8/15. Next is a baseline PET scan to see where we are starting from and a bone marrow draw to check if the lymphoma is in the marrow too or not. Treatment is the same either way. Then he will start chemotherapy in September: 6 months of treatment, having infusions every 28 days. Everything has been a little rough for him and the family without him working, so treatment is going to be expensive. Yes, he has medical, but with only one income in the house, it's going to be tough. We are asking for love and support through these tough times.
