Thank you so much for visiting this meal train page for Alix. She is having major surgery on Friday, October 10, after which she will have many physical restrictions for a minimum of 4-6 weeks. Throughout that time, Alix will need help with meals and simple chores around her house. In offering assistance, you will ease Alix's mind and allow her to solely focus on resting so that she has a speedy recovery. Alix cannot enter a pool for at least 4 weeks post-op and is not allowed to lift anything that is at or above 10 pounds for a full 6 weeks post-op. Alix's career is physically demanding, so it will take time for her to build up the strength necessary to work with children again. If you’d like to contribute, please sign up for a date on the calendar to drop off a home-cooked meal or send a gift card for takeout or groceries. If you have the ability to volunteer with simple chores, that would take considerable stress off Alix's mind and encourage her to rest. Your support and kindness mean so much to Alix during this time. Thank you for helping make her recovery a little easier and brighter! Food Favorites: Alix loves fresh fruit, especially summer berries (blueberries are her favorite), cherries, green grapes, pineapple, watermelon, cherry tomatoes, nectarines, and apples like Cosmic Crisp. She also enjoys lots of vegetables, including bell peppers, cucumbers, brussels sprouts, corn on the cob, sugar snap peas, and rainbow carrots. For sides, Alix likes potatoes, rice, and all kinds of breads (Pugliese from Hideaway Bakery is a favorite, but she also enjoys potato bread, sourdough, and French baguettes). She’s fond of simple biscuits, sesame bagels, classic cereals like Cracklin’ Oat Bran or Raisin Bran, and Toasted Corn by Albina City Nuts. Most of her protein comes from chicken (she often makes a chicken-and-veggie stir-fry), but she also eats beef in forms like tacos, burgers, or the occasional steak. Bacon is a breakfast treat she enjoys, too. Because of a dairy allergy, Alix uses dairy alternatives — cashew milk is her favorite, though almond, soy, and oat milks are all great options. She typically cooks with Earth Butter. You will always put a smile on Alix's face by indulging her sweet tooth. While she does try to stick to Smart Sweet gummies, Alix will always cave for a cinnamon roll. She occasionally enjoys fruity candies, dark chocolate treats, and/or coffee-flavored sweets along with desserts from Sweet Life. Alix is careful not to add sugar into her diet from beverages. She usually keeps Simply Lite juices (orange juice, lemonade, raspberry lemonade), sodas without caffeine (no sugar root beer, Zevia cream soda, diet orange soda), and a variety of sparkling waters (key lime, wild cherry, tangerine/lime, cherry limeade, raspberry blackberry) on hand. Alix's doctor has recommended drinking seltzers that contain CBD to control her swelling after surgery, in hopes of minimizing any setbacks she may experience resulting from flares of dystonia, fibromyalgia, and Addison's Disorder.
Alix is allergic to seafood and eggs. Also, she is moderately allergic to dairy and, aside from occasional desserts, always uses dairy substitutes. Alix does not care for mushrooms, beans, or anything flavored pumpkin/coconut/banana. She loves coffee, but doesn't drink tea and leans towards traditional fruit/berry flavors over tropical choices. Due to "porch pirates" in her area, Alix has emphasized that if anything is dropped off, to please ensure it cannot be viewed from the road. Thank you!
