**Help Me Take the Next Step Toward Healing** On November 10, I’m having a total right knee replacement—a surgery I’ve been waiting, praying, and preparing for after more than three years of pain. Following a work-related car accident in 2022, I’ve faced ongoing knee problems, a previous surgery, and now end-stage arthritis. My knee has reached the point where everyday things—standing to cook, walking through a store, keeping up with my home, or being present for my children’s activities—can be painful and exhausting. My knee gives out, and problems with my left ankle have made getting around even harder. Much of the time, I rely on a wheelchair. I’ve been out of my regular physical work for over a year because of my physical limitations. That has affected more than my income. I miss being able to do the work I love, care for my family the way I want to, and move through a day without having to plan everything around pain. As a single mom of three, life hasn’t stopped while my body has struggled. There are still meals to make, school schedules to manage, bills to pay, and children who need their mom. I’ve kept going the best way I know how, but this next part will require me to slow down and allow other people to help carry us. During surgery, the damaged surfaces of my knee will be replaced with artificial components. Afterward, I’ll need time, physical therapy, and support as I work toward healing and rebuilding strength and mobility. Recovery will happen over weeks and months, and my needs will change along the way. With my other ankle also struggling, I’m preparing for extra help getting safely through everyday routines. I am looking forward to healing with my whole heart. I’m praying for the day I can stand long enough to cook with my children, enjoy an outing without worrying about my knee giving out, and return to work and the things that make me feel like myself. I know surgery isn’t an overnight fix, but I’m hopeful about what this next chapter can hold. **Here is what support will look like for our family:** - Breakfast, lunch, and dinner support, including family meals, groceries, or food gift cards. - Scheduled in-person shifts to help with practical needs and household routines, especially early in recovery. - Help with the children’s school and activity transportation. - Laundry, light cleaning, errands, and care for our dogs. - Rides to appointments and physical therapy. - Financial gifts or gift cards to help with everyday expenses while my ability to work remains limited. - Prayer, encouragement, and check-ins as I navigate the physical and emotional parts of healing. It is vulnerable to put my needs into words. I’m used to figuring things out and being the one who keeps everything moving. But I want to give my body the time and care it needs to heal, and that means accepting support. Whether you can bring a meal, cover a shift, send a gift card, give financially, or pray for us, thank you. Every act of care helps me rest knowing my children and our home are being cared for too. I’m trusting God through this next step, and I’m deeply grateful for the people willing to walk it with us. 💛 With love, Kayleigh
