That is exactly what happened to Sherrie and Jamie. For the past year, their lives have been consumed by Jamie’s declining health and his battle with cancer. After being rediagnosed with cancer, Jamie has endured eight months of chemotherapy. Sherrie has been working part-time so she can be by his side and help care for him, sacrificing income because being there for her husband is where she needs to be. Their medical bills have continued to pile up, and their savings have been depleted. Then came another devastating blow. In early July, after returning home from one of Jamie’s chemotherapy treatments, they discovered that their landlord was ending their lease. They have until October 6 to find a new place to live and move. Before they could even begin to process that news, Jamie was hospitalized with pneumonia. For the past four weeks, he has been going between the hospital and a rehabilitation facility because he is still too weak to come home. Sherrie is trying to hold everything together while caring for the person she loves, navigating cancer treatment, dealing with hospitalizations, and facing the possibility of losing their home. They need our help.
