Our baby was recently diagnosed with lambdoid craniosynostosis where her lambdoid suture has prematurely closed (on the back of her head). She requires surgery to open the fused suture and to create additional space in her skull for her brain to grow. We were very fortunate to catch this when we did and were referred to Seattle Children's Hospital for some of the best care she could possibly receive. I am so thankful we followed a gut feeling because in doing so, we were able to have options for her surgery. Rosie has a wonderful team of professionals providing care and the care will continue post-op as she will likely be in a helmet until her first birthday. Rosie is currently scheduled for surgery on 8/29, but we are on the waitlist for any cancellations that might become available. We are hopeful for an earlier date as her skull and brain are rapidly changing. Her hospital stay will include a night in the ICU immediately post op and 2-3 days in the step-down area to follow. We are reaching out to our village to help with meals for our family and play dates for Ivy girl during the recovery time. Our friends and family mean the world to us and we are so grateful for all the support we have already received. Thank you for taking the time to help us at a time of need. Give your babies (four legged or two) a tight squeeze for us and remember to always listen to your gut feeling. You might just be hungry, but you might also change the course of your baby's life.
Meals and gift cards for 3 people are appreciated. Please feel free to include any of your favorite snacks or breakfast items! No spicy foods, please. We are still searching for a family that has gone through a similar endoscopic surgery. Please let us know if you know anyone or feel free to give out our info. If you or anyone in your home is feeling ill, please reschedule for another time. Love you all, thank you!
