Dear Friends and Family, I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share a bit of my journey and to humbly ask for your support during this challenging time. As many of you know, I am a proud mother of three, a grandmother of six, and a great-grandmother of one, and I continue to work in the education field. In May 2019, I received a diagnosis of a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, a rare form of cancer. Since then, I have undergone five different treatments, including two surgeries and other therapies that have brought some effectiveness but ultimately led to the need for further care. I am currently starting a new treatment plan, which involves four radiation infusions. These infusions require me to isolate at home for seven days afterward, making it essential to take special precautions for my health and the well-being of my loved ones. My daughter, Monique, and my energetic five-year-old grandson, Micah, live with me, and we will need to limit their exposure during this period. My oldest daughter, Shauni, will also be there to help care for me. In moments like these, the support of friends and family means the world. While I'm unsure of all the ways I may need assistance, one immediate need is for a ride to and from my infusion appointments. We have created one place through Give Inkind to make it easier for those who wish to help. Any contributions, whether big or small, (rides, meals, gift cards or donations) will provide me with comfort and peace of mind during this treatment process. Your kindness and support will not only help to ease my burdens but will also lift my spirits as I navigate through this journey.
