Fundraising for my Top Surgery costs and aftercare

Atlanta, GA

Story

Some of you know that back in 2021, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have surgery and radiation treatment. At the time, the surgeon gave me two choices: to either have a lumpectomy or a double mastectomy. I was immediately overwhelmed with this decision because I knew I was never comfortable with breasts but also knew that this surgeon was not a gender-affirming doctor. It all felt so rushed, so I chose a lumpectomy and then radiation during COVID times. IT WAS ROUGH!!!! Over the last few years, I have learned from so many young non-binary humans about feeling comfort in your own skin, embracing who you are, and growing into yourself with more comfort every day. I'm still learning. I did question whether doing this at my age was necessary or even smart given the political climate. And it is a thousand percent yes, not only for myself but for all the young people I can support along the way. Showing them that there are many good and great humans that will listen, help guide them, and share personal experiences that may spark hope. This is just another beginning, a part of my journey that I get to share with the multitude of feelings that come along with it. I lead a life full of creativity, vulnerability, joy, exploration, and sometimes messy failures. I have never regretted any of it. I can use any support you are willing or able to give since my full recovery time will be 6 weeks. Any money raised will go towards copayment, which is approximately $6500 we think; it may be less, and any costs related to taking time off. Follow-up care, exercise, stretching, scar care, and support is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to connect and share your experience with me. I'm incredibly grateful for all the support I have on the ground during my recovery and would welcome all calls and visits, and a few reminders to sit still and not work power tools (a very hard thing for me to do). So creativity days days will flow, something I've been longing for for a very long time. Join me for some daily drawing days or meditation, brainstorming or a movie. GoFundMe, Venmo and a food calendar are some options to help while I navigate this app. I should be moving around after a week and feeling better about regular daily activities at 2-3 weeks. My surgery is scheduled for October 10th and my friend Chris will be caring for me. I love So Ba Vietnamese in EAV and Pollo Primo. I'm a fan of healthy food and home cooked meals. I never eat enough vegetables or fruit, and I'm really wanting to kick my current candy addiction. Soups are my favorite especially when it's paired with bread or a grilled cheese sandwich. I'm SOOOOOO Excited and just a little tired. I've cancelled this surgery twice before because of external situations, and I can't believe the day is finally here. Love you all
