2025 has been a hard year for my mom's health. She had breast cancer, and after that had gone into remission, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. In the past week, her condition has worsened, with numbness spreading in her lower body. The pain came on suddenly and escalated quickly, leaving her unable to move without severe discomfort. She went to the hospital, and after a few days of deliberation with her doctors, they sent her home to see if her condition would get better with rest. It did not. She is having emergency spinal surgery Wednesday, December 3rd at 8am. I love my mom more than anything in the world, and I can't describe how hard it was to see her in such pain. If I could make it all go away in an instant, I would in a heartbeat. I'm hopeful that this surgery will let her heal and ease some of her pain. After this emergency surgery, she's also going in for a scheduled hip replacement due to complications from her arthritis, so she will be in recovery for a while. I can't be there to help her 24/7, as much as I'd like to. That's why I made this page. Give In Kind gives us a way to coordinate in one place so we can focus on helping my mom get through surgery and recovery. Whether it’s meals, supplies, errands, or simply messages of encouragement, every act of support lifts a huge weight off of her shoulders. Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for caring about her recovery. Your kindness means more than we can express, and we are deeply grateful for any way you choose to help. -Lark
