Story

I created this page for my sister, Sophia, who has been battling Ewing's sarcoma cancer since she was 15 years old. She is now 22 years old and has been battling cancer for about seven years. She is currently on her 4th battle with cancer. I want to help my sister and my family in any way I can with the gracious and thoughtful help of others. My family is truly thankful for any help or donation. My sister receives all of her cancer treatments at Children's Mercy in Kansas City. For about seven years, my family has been traveling back and forth to Kansas City. This has been very difficult due to our home being four hours away from her specialists and hospital. Gas, groceries, bills, travel expenses, meals, daily living costs, and essential expenses are never-ending and continuously add up, especially for a family of four who travel frequently. For example, since my sister's 4th relapse in March 2025, we have been traveling every one to two weeks for chemotherapy treatments, radiation treatments, additional doctor check-ups, scans, blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, unexpected emergencies, fevers, etc. I know my sister and family are grateful for any help. Each dollar counts. I would like to help my family financially, and most of all, nothing would bring me more joy than to surprise my sister with gifts, gift cards, donations, etc., to help her enjoy the times that she is home or able to be out of the hospital, as this has been a long and heartbreaking battle for her. I love her so much and would love to support her. Along with this, I would be so happy to help my parents by surprising them with hotel cards, gas cards, meal cards, and grocery cards to help during this time. Feel free to visit the wishlist on this page or donate via Venmo, etc. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! #SophiaStrong Sincerely, Holly Linenberger

Special Notes

Sophia's Update: Updated by Holly Linenberger What seemed to be a routine chemotherapy trip, turned into an unexpected fright and shock. During her most recent chemotherapy stay, Sophia experienced chemotherapy neurotoxicity. The neurotoxicity causes her body to have tremors and massive confusion. During the toxicity, she is not able to stand, walk, or communicate properly. When this occurs she is given medication to prevent seizures and flush the toxicity out of her body. She has recovered slowly. We pray that this does not happen again, however it definitely can during her next and upcoming chemotherapy treatments. Sophia's hip and leg are hurting as well. Children's Mercy gave her x-rays, a CT scan, and an MRI scan. They found that she has extreme inflammation, torn muscles, and edema in her hip. Which is causing her severe pain and extremely limited mobility. Sophia is now using a wheelchair and walker and requires a lot of medical equipment and supplies for mobility and endurance! Her bones are extremely fragile and brittle due to 7 years of treatment and her bone marrow is drastically weak! She is not able to bear weight on her leg due to the risk of potential femur breakage. She will be receiving care from an orthopedic doctor. With all of this unexpected news, our family has been quite overwhelmed with these health adjustments. With this being said we had to add a durable ramp to the entry of our home already and are in need of new tires on our vehicle for extra orthopedic trips, orthopedic therapy, specialized bathroom safety equipment, maximum assistance and supplies for bathroom use, hygiene, and transfers. If you are able to donate, please consider doing so. If you are not able to at this time, please share this link with your friends and family. For those who prefer to donate directly outside of this platform, you can also send contributions via Venmo to @Jenny-Linenberger. Every single share and donation makes a massive difference. Your support and prayers mean everything! #SophiaStrong💪🏽💛🎗
