Supporting Our Sister Yolanda

Douglasville, GA

Story

Yolanda’s journey to the Mayo Clinic was a leap of faith—literally. Faced with a brain tumor that threatened her life, she packed her bags, her Bible, and her signature quick wit. A day at the Mayo Clinic was to give her a second opinion, but instead an immediate decision to remove the tumor was made. She had one day to prepare for surgery, therefore in true Yolanda fashion she filled the day before with prayers, not just from her lips, but from family, friends, and even strangers who had heard her story. The surgery was long and delicate, but God’s hand was steady over every doctor and nurse in that room. When Yolanda finally opened her eyes, she greeted her loved ones with a grin and her pinky in the air! Her strong faith carried her through every challenge, and her humor kept everyone’s spirits lifted then and now during the tough recovery days ahead. She is walking the road to healing with gratitude in her heart, knowing that God has given her a new chapter to write.
