Our dear friend and peer decided to fall into the New Year. Quite literally, Katharine Gambill, was doing her typical mom duties when she accidentally fell on Thursday, January 1st. The fractures to her tibia/fibula were quite extensive. She was transferred from Harrisburg to West Shore hospital to be admitted and seen by a trauma surgeon for her tib/fib fracture and dislocation. On January 2nd, she underwent surgery to have an external fixation device placed to stabilize the fractures and dislocation until she is ready for surgical repair. She basically will be off her feet (but most definitely her right foot) for quite some time. As a full-time mom, wife, and nurse leader, this injury is life changing and will inhabit her ability to care her family and others like she is so accustomed to doing in her daily life. If you can contribute to ease the burden on her and her family during this time, it would be greatly appreciated and allow her to focus on her recovery! She does so much for everyone, and we want to support her rest and recovery with as little stress as possible. 💕
