Mindy has been diagnosed with advanced liver cancer, most consistent with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma / biliary tract cancer. She also has significant underlying liver disease from decompensated NASH/MASH cirrhosis, which has caused recurrent fluid buildup in her abdomen requiring repeated paracentesis procedures. Her treatment plan is systemic chemotherapy/immunotherapy with durvalumab, gemcitabine, and cisplatin on 21-day cycles, followed by durvalumab maintenance therapy. She started treatment on May 22, 2026. Her care team is also closely managing the effects of her liver disease, fluid buildup, weakness/fatigue, pain, nausea, nutrition, blood sugar, and infection risk during treatment. Mindy and her husband Jason are volunteers at Clark County Fire District 10 in Amboy, WA. They have a daughter named Cassie. For many years, Mindy and Jason have served their community in fire and EMS, always ready to help others in times of need. Now, as Mindy faces this difficult diagnosis and ongoing treatment, they need support themselves.
