My mom, Jan, took a horrible fall back on July 9th. She went to the walkin and they took some X-rays and some old her there were possible fractures in her ribs and sent her home. After two days of th pain getting worse and difficulty taking a deep breath, we took her to the ER at Lourdes. There she had a ct scan which showed she had 3 fractured ribs, a spinal fracture of her L3, a laceration to her spleen and a puncture to her left lung. She was immediately transferred to Wilson Hospital where the Trauma team was waiting for her and was transferred to the CVICU. On Sunday 7/12 testing showed the there was fluid and blood building up in her lungs. So it was decided by the trauma team that she needed surgery. On Monday 7/13 she went in for surgery and it took longer than expected because when the surgeon got in to her ribs she had one rib that was completely snapped in half and two other ribs that were broken in 3 places. Seven titanium plates were put in to help her ribs heal correctly. From there she had a chest tube in to help drain her lungs. There were many ups and downs with the fluid in her lungs and both lungs flat at the bottom. With the hep of the amazing team in the CVICU and everyone in the step down units and rehab at K4, mom is finally home. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to start a meal train to help my mom and sister out in getting her settled in and on a routine. If you can help that would be amazing or just sharing would be appreciated as well! Thank you all so much for the outpouring of love and support. It means a lot ❤️
