Even Angels Need a Little Help Sometimes! ❤️ On Sunday, October 11th, my mom, Angel, broke her ankle in three places while we were on a family trip to Ohio. After making the long journey back home to South Carolina, she’s now preparing for surgery on Monday, October 19th, followed by what will likely be a long and challenging recovery. And if you know my mom, you know that sitting still is NOT her strong suit. 😂 My mom is one of those people who is always doing something for somebody. She helps keep the family appliance business running, runs a kitten rescue, is raising (and homeschooling) my 12-year-old little brother, and somehow still finds time to cook for family, lend a hand, or take care of whoever needs her. She’s the kind of person who will put everyone else’s needs ahead of her own, even when she probably shouldn’t. But this time, she’s the one who needs a little help. Recovering from ankle surgery means she’ll need to spend a lot of time resting, staying off her feet, and allowing her body to heal. And knowing my mom, that’s probably going to be harder for her than the surgery itself! I live in Chicago, and it absolutely breaks my heart that I can’t be there to help take care of her in person. So I’m doing the next best thing: calling on our family, friends, and communities to help take care of the woman who is always taking care of everyone else. Here’s how you can help: * Local friends and family: Sign up to drop off a home-cooked meal or takeout for the family. * Friends and family farther away: Send a restaurant or grocery gift card, or arrange a meal delivery. * Anyone who wants to help: Share this page with people who know and love Angel! There’s no expectation to give, and every little gesture of kindness is appreciated. Even one meal means one less thing for my mom to worry about while she’s recovering. My mom has spent so much of her life being there for other people. She’s strong, stubborn, generous, and fiercely independent. But even the strongest people deserve to be cared for. They say it takes a village. Well, I’m calling on ours. ❤️ Let’s show my mom just how loved she is, and give her one less reason to get up out of bed before her ankle is ready! With love and gratitude, Heather (Angel’s daughter)
Meals for 3 people would be appreciated. No pork.
