Hi everyone, and thanks so much for visiting our Give InKind page. I decided to set this up because I've had so many people reach out to offer help and support in many different ways. This page is a tool that will allow Tim & I to keep everything organized for us, as well as current & transparent for all of you, at the same time. We truly appreciate all of the love, help, concern & support our community has shown us already. Please know that all of your contributions are important & valued by us, no matter how big or small. On June 16th, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer in my left breast. One week later on June 23rd, I got the results of my genetic testing, which confirmed that I am a 3rd generation carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation. My family and I have found 8 confirmed BRCA1 carriers in our family history thus far. My daughter, Tia-Lynn, will be the first of the 4th generation family members to get the genetic testing done, sometime within the next couple of weeks. We are asking for any prayers, meditations, manifestations, spells, good vibes, positive energy, affirmations, mantras, and ANYTHING else that you might do to send the best possible outcome our way, and help us break this vicious cycle in my family... starting with my beautiful daughter, Tia-Lynn. So far, this is what my treatment plan looks like: On Friday, August 14th I will be receiving the first of 3 major, back to back, surgeries. The first will be a double mastectomy, with bilateral sentinel lymph node biopsies & tissue expanders placed. This surgery will have a 6-8 week recovery time. As soon as I am fully recovered from the double mastectomy surgery, I will undergo the second surgery, which will be the laparoscopic removal of both ovaries (BRCA1 carriers are at a 58% increased risk of developing Ovarian Cancer after age 40). Because this surgery will be done laparoscopically, the recovery time will be much shorter, at an estimated 2-3 weeks. Once I have fully recovered from the second surgery, I will undergo my third (and hopefully FINAL) surgery, which will be reconstructive surgery for my breasts. This will be the hardest surgery, with the longest recovery time, which is estimated to be 8-12 weeks. Once I am fully recovered from all surgeries, I will then begin chemotherapy treatments. Radiation treatments are undecided at this time, and will be considered after the pathology comes back from the double mastectomy (which should be at the end of August or beginning of September). For 2 months prior to my cancer diagnosis, I was undergoing multiple scans & testing which lead up to my June 16th diagnosis. We have already started paying our copays for all of those scans & tests, and the medical bills are now starting to roll in faster than we can get them payed. I have decided on Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, Avon Center for Breast Cancer, to provide & manage my care. These are the best doctors in the country, and I know I am in the MOST CAPABLE hands & will receive the gold standard of care at MGB. However, this hospital is a 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive, one way. That means lots of additional expenses, such as hotel stays, gas expenses & parking expenses for traveling & parking during appointments, food expenses while traveling, toll expenses along the Mass Pike, etc... Over the coming months with the 3 surgeries, follow up visits, oncology appointments and eventual chemotherapy treatments... the COPAYMENTS & the TRAVEL EXPENSES are really going to start adding up fast!! As most of you know, I was assaulted at my place of employment in April of 2025. That assault resulted in a major injury to my right shoulder, which required a rotator cuff repair surgery in June of 2025. I have been out of work for the last 16 months, because of this assault & subsequent surgery. I have been receiving a very small weekly amount ($220) from Worker's Compensation during this time. This means that we were already in a financial hardship, months before this cancer diagnosis was even on our radar. Now, as I am finally nearing the end of the 14 month recovery from my shoulder surgery, my Worker's Compensation payments are about to be ending soon. Due to our financial hardship, we have already exhausted all of our savings. Over the past 16 months, Tim has taken on a second job, I have enrolled in a debt consolidation program, Tim has taken out a loan on his 401K plan, we have emptied our "rainy day" savings account, and I have had to cash out my Roth IRA account early, and pay considerable fees to do so. We have absolutely no safety net left, as we go into this breast cancer diagnosis. My plan is to utilize as many of the features on this Give InKInd page, as I possibly can. Here you will find information on how to provide all different kinds of support, such as, monetary donations (Venmo, PayPal or CashApp), gift card donations, rides to appointments, in home care needs, housekeeping, cooking meals or meal delivery options, running errands, etc... I hope to have everything all up and running smoothly, prior to my first surgery. I will do my best to keep everyone updated on my progress, my surgeries, any treatments, and any changes. I can not adequately express how much we appreciate each & every one of you & the support you're providing. Whether you are saying prayers, coming to visit me, taking me on magical & wild adventures, sending love from across the miles, making donations, supporting my husband & daughter, supporting me emotionally & mentally, checking in with weekly calls, giving me rides to appointments, cooking meals for my family & I, sharing the link for this page, purchasing items on my amazon wishlist, etc... IT ALL MATTERS SO MUCH!! Please know how deeply you are appreciated and we can't thank you enough for all that you do! 🫶🩷🎗️💪
Visiting: After my first surgery on August 14th, please do not plan to visit me at my home until after August 20th. You can feel free to text me anytime after 8/20 & we can set up a time for a visit when I am feeling up for it. I will be out of commission for the upcoming months and would love some company to help pass the time and aid me in a quicker recovery from upcoming surgeries. Dietary Needs: I will be on a high protein, high fiber, clean eating plan. We will be eating low sugar, and a lot of whole grains. I need to incorporate as many PLANT BASED PROTEIN OPTIONS as possible, into my meals. DISLIKES: Tofu, Tempeh, Pork. No food allergies. We love lots of fruits & vegetables, and we enjoy many different types of cuisines from around the world, ie; Indian, Thai, Mexican, Italian, Creole, Puerto Rican, Japanese, Mediterranean, Greek, Southern & of course the American Classics. Restrictions: While I would still love to be invited to everything, please know that I will not be able to attend functions or events with more than 15 people. My immune system will be severely compromised and it's imperative that I restrict myself to protect from any chances of picking up illnesses or getting infections.
