The Slaughter Family

W
Story

The past 8 weeks have been the hardest weeks of my entire life. I’ve had G.I. issues my entire life, but the past 8 weeks have been challenging and ways. I didn’t think we were possible. I’ve lost my appetite and ability to eat almost all the foods and drinks, drinking water has made me sick, I’ve unintentionally lost over 40lbs and I’ve never felt weaker in my entire life. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis and severe biliary dyskinesia. I’ve been in and out of the hospital the past 2 weeks. I am currently on day 7 in the hospital due to severe malnutrition. I am still unable to eat or drink more than a sip or a bite without getting sick. I had my gallbladder removed last week and this week we are focused on nutrition and symptom management. Today I am having a GJ tube placed to try and get some nutrients in me. I have a long road to recovery but I am bound and determined to make it so I can go back to being the best mom I can be. My boys deserve the world and I’m determined to give it to them. With that being said, this has been the most humbling experience of my life. I have prayed fervently for answers and for God to keep me through this. To see me through this now and in the future. And he has. Every step has been ordained by him. I may not understand the “why” but I know, understand and believe in the “you will get through this” he has promised. Thank you for any/all support and prayers. I haven’t worked in over two months. So your support means more to me than you will know. I am not one to ask for help, I am usually the help. So being on the other side and relying on, others has been a humbling experience and one that I’m very grateful to have friends and family to surround me with that help. Thank you all💗

Special Notes

The Slaughter Family continually shows up and shows out for their family, friends, and community. It's our turn to show up for them and offer any help we can while they find their new normal through their medical adversity. Please offer any support you can, a meal, a gift card, or even words of encouragement. They have a long road ahead of them and need all our help, prayers, and love 💕
